Emergency Medical Services

The EMS Division provides the community with a broad range of emergency services that protect life and property.  These services include the Advanced Life Support (ALS) program which places a paramedic on each fire company throughout the cities of Brisbane, Daly City and Pacifica.

North County Fire Authority is a proud member of the San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services Group, a joint powers authority which provides streamlined paramedic services throughout San Mateo County.  In partnership with the ALS contractor American Medical Response, all San Mateo County Paramedics employed by our fire services and our ambulance provider work collaboratively in a team approach to provide an exceptional level of prehospital care.

NCFA manages fire based paramedic services for nine fire companies and one transport ALS ambulance.  Paramedic services are managed by our EMS Chief through the Operations Bureau, EMS Division.  The total number of medical aid requests is approximately 7,700 per year.
