Emergency Preparedness Classes

Emergency Preparedness Classes

As we have learned from past events, we need to be self sufficient for at least 72 hours after a disaster strikes.  The trainings provided by the North County Fire Authority are designed to provide vital information so that you can begin to be better prepared.  These trainings are provided in the following formats:

Basic Emergency Preparedness, is a 30 minute presentation that is geared towards Homeowners Associations, PTA's and Service Club meetings.  It is designed to give citizens a basic understanding of the threats we face, and the steps to take to prepare for a large scale disaster.  To schedule a presentation, contact Matt Lucett at 991-8139 or by email at mlucett@dalycity.org.

Individual and Family Preparedness, is a 2-hour long presentation that will provide citizens information on what they should do before, during and after a disaster strikes.  Topics presented include developing a family disaster plan, building an emergency supply kit, and making your home disaster resistant.  To see the class schedule, and to registar for one of the seminars, click on the "Emergency Preparedness Division" section located immediately to the left of this message.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program, is a 20-hour long training course that educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.  Using the training learned in the classroom and practical exercises, citizens trained as CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace after a disaster occurs while waiting for the arrival of professional responders.  CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects and education in their community.  To see the class schedule click on the "Emergency Preparedness Division" section located immediately to the left of this message.  To learn more about the CERT program, contact Matt Lucett at 991-8139 or by email at mlucett@dalycity.org.
